CPD Policy

ICPD policy overview

Founded in 1995, The Institute of CPD (iCPD) is the home for individuals who are proactive learners and committed to professional lifelong learning.  As a professional body, and a learned society, we lead the way in championing excellence in lifelong learning and promote the professional development of all our members.

We do this through promoting and offering a huge variety of CPD activities – where all have been accredited with CPD Standards Office accreditation – to our global membership community.

We award our registered members with prestigious post-nominals, depending on their membership grade;  Achiever is ‘AInstCPD’,  Member is ‘MInstCPD’ and Fellow is ‘FInstCPD’.

To reflect the global,  diverse community of members we are steered by an expert advisory board and work with both UK and international professional institutes to award formal professional recognition for individuals undertaken CPD.

Expectations

At the Institute of CPD we are committed to developing individuals, professionals and every single person across the globe.  Regardless of your experience, background or educational level, we inspire the sharing of knowledge, self-driven raising of standards.  This ensures the public have confidence, and trust, our professional roles and services.

As a member of iCPD, you are required to take responsibility for the enhancement and maintenance of your skills and knowledge as stipulated in the iCPD Member Code of Conduct

The CPD requirements and obligations

As of 1st July 2022, all individuals registered with iCPD who hold Member and Fellow level must record a minimum of 30 hours of CPD per annum.

If you are a young person, and are registered as an iCPD Achiever, you must record a minimum of 10 hours of CPD over a 12 month period.

Your annual CPD requirement begins on your registration date and runs for the full 12 months. During this time, you must record your CPD activities as a formal learning record.  This can be logged using a personal recording tool, or through the The Institute of CPD’s online CPD recording portal.
