Under the CPD Regulations of The General Council of the Bar newly qualified barristers are required to complete a minimum of 45 hours of accredited continuing professional development (CPD) in their first three years of practice, and on completion of the New Practitioners' Programme, barristers are required to undertake 12 hours of CPD each year, four hours of which must be through accredited activities.The requirement for Fellowship of The Institute of Continuing Professional Development (FInstCPD) is generally based on 50% excess of a professional body's minimum requirement.
It has been decided that the requirement for all practicing barristers is: 22 hours minimum of qualifying CPD undertaken in one year.
